Does It Require Personal Selling?
Most selling is performed face-to-face, and I have to tell you, this is a very effective way to make money. But here’s a stiff shot of reality: most people aren’t good face-to-face salesmen, and they don’t want to learn how to be. Who wants to face rejection all the time? Who wants to spend all their time on the road, living out of a suitcase? All that’s too limiting. You need something more automatic, where the marketing system itself sells people on the product—not your sparkling teeth and winning personality. Those are the perfect opportunities for most people, and what you really want are systems that are as automated as possible.
In this case, your best systems are those that are associated with DRM and the Internet. Does the biz opp give you a website, and arrange things so that you don’t have to take care of the customer service yourself? Can you sit back and let it all work for you? That’s what you really want! Add that to the fact that DRM and online marketing both allow you to have hundreds or thousands of little salesmen out there working for you without you having to get directly involved with people, and you’re sitting pretty. Why sell one-on-one when you can sell thousands-on-one at the same time? And hey, you don’t even have to deal with rejection. If people aren’t interested, they just toss your package in the trash or go on to the next website. A well-targeted sales letter, online or off, sells for you 24/7.
And here’s another important point to consider? Even if you enjoy personal selling, how many people are you going to be able to serve in a day? There’s no way to scale up your business past a certain point. That’s why having a good, automated marketing system is ideal.
